Proposal For Benches on Tulip Gardens Property

Tulip Gardens Association Members:
 
The Board is considering installing three benches on the property.

We want your opinion! This is not a formal vote, but the Board would very much like to know what you think.

The benches will be the same as the benches the town has installed in Wilmore Park and along parts of the Morris Canal Greenway.

Three benches, each installed on a dark green concrete slab, will cost a total of $13,356.84. you will notice these benches are expensive.

They are far more durable than the less expensive alternatives, they are comfortable, and they will likely last for decades.

There are three proposed locations. The locations were chosen because they are adjacent to a walkway, and they are not too close to anyone’s unit. Those locations, as pointed out in the map below, are as follows.

  1. On the walkway leading to the tennis court, facing toward Bldg. 2.
  2. On the walkway near the front corner of Bldg. 8.
  3. On the walkway near the side of Bldg. 11, facing east (toward Bldgs. 5&7).

They will be installed only if the Board determines that there are sufficient funds in the operating budget when the winter is over.

There will be no assessment for this project, however, the Board may elect to fewer benches or none, if there are insufficient funds.

Some people on the Board feel that spending money on benches right now is frivolous. These are uncertain times, anyone who has shopped for food or bought gas knows that the costs for the Association will likely rise especially costs to keep our complex looking great. This may well be true whether we purchase the benches or not, however, that money might be used to mitigate future increases. Others feel that the value added by the benches (and the quality of life) is worth the cost. What do you think?
