Work is complete on the removal of dead  bushes and trees. Some new bushes have been planted to replace them and additional bushes have been placed in areas in need of foliage. New pachysandra was planted along walkways as needed. During a four day period, mulch was spread throughout the complex, and grass seed and fertilizer were applied where needed.  Irrigation system repairs were made to ensure all plantings are watered properly.

Report on Ash Trees

July 3, 2019 By TG Board

The ash borer epidemic has invaded Tulip Gardens. After consulting with the arborist from BrightView, the 9 ash trees in the best condition and in the most strategic locations were identified for treatment. The remaining ash trees will be removed.

On July 3, the arborist treated these 9 trees by injecting insecticide into the tree trunks. This must be repeated every two years for 10 years. The treatment is 85% effective. The trees receiving treatment are in the center courtyard plus the huge 110-year-old ash tree on the west side of building 10.

One of the benefits of pruning and treating these trees is that it stimulates growth, so the canopies of the trees will flourish.

Dumpster Enclosure Replacement

June 24, 2018 By TG Board

Please be advised that the replacement of the dumpster enclosures will begin within one week or so. The new enclosures are made of cedar and will be left in its natural state, so as to match the existing cedar shingles on the buildings.

In addition, bollards will also be installed within the enclosures to prevent dumpsters from hitting the back of the enclosure when dumpsters are lowered (during garbage pick-up). Bollards should prevent damage to the back of the enclosure, thus eliminating the cost of constant repairs to the enclosures.

Two bollards will be installed in each of the five dumpster enclosures. Bollards are made of four inch iron pipe, which will be sunk three feet into the ground and stand four feet above ground. Concrete will surround the pipe in the ground. The bollard is filled with concrete and will have a metal cap.

Should you have any questions and/or concerns regarding this correspondence, please contact the Management Office at 973-790-1200 ext. 106 or via email at hforde@hamptonmgt.com.
